We are seeking someone with an interest in digital accessibility and assistive technology to support staff and students, as well as colleagues delivering IT services across the University. This fixed-term role is available until July 2027 to provide cover for a secondment within the team.

Working within the Digital Adoption team, you will collaborate with digital skills developers, accessibility specialists and learning technologists to support training and accessibility initiatives across the University. You will help improve the accessibility of digital services and online resources, act as the first point of contact for the team, respond to enquiries and manage the day-to-day operation of the University's advanced captioning service.

Due to the customer-focused nature of the role and the need to work closely with colleagues, regular on-campus working is required. You will have strong administrative, organisational and IT skills, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and a good understanding of creating accessible content, including documents and videos. Experience in a customer-facing support role would be advantageous.

The Opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity to join our dynamic Global Mobility team, with a primary focus on supporting the University’s UK immigration and sponsorship activities.

A key part of the role will be supporting the day-to-day delivery of the University’s UK inbound immigration service. This will include supporting employees and managers with immigration-related queries, assisting with sponsorship processes and maintaining accurate records and documentation. You will also help the team ensure that our processes remain compliant with UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) requirements and University policies.

Alongside your immigration responsibilities, you will gain exposure to wider Global Mobility activity, supporting colleagues who work internationally and contributing to a range of international compliance and mobility matters such as payroll. This provides an excellent opportunity to broaden your experience and develop an understanding of the wider challenges associated with international working.

The role involves managing a significant and varied workload, working to deadlines and dealing with detailed and complex information. You do not need to have worked in immigration before. We can teach you the technical knowledge and processes; we are looking for someone who has the curiosity, organisation, attention to detail and commitment to learn.

UK immigration is a detailed and continually evolving area, so you will need to enjoy learning new information, researching questions and applying guidance carefully. You will be supported as you develop your knowledge, but we will also expect you to take ownership of your learning and progressively build your confidence and independence.

You will need to be comfortable working at pace, staying organised and maintaining accuracy when there is a lot to do.

Your experience does not need to come from a traditional employment setting. This role is based within the Marketing Office’s Campaigns Team, who manage brand-level marketing for student recruitment, including web, email marketing, advertising, organic social campaigns, and the creation of online and offline assets such as videos and prospectuses. The Team is made up of marketing, communications and digital content specialists who deliver B2C activity from initial lead generation through to enrolled student. 

You will be responsible for the development and delivery of brand-level prospect and conversion communications, designed to turn leads into applicants, and offer holders into enrolled students. 

With a passion for communications and the latest trends in youth marketing, you will bring enthusiasm and innovation to the role; all to help Lancaster University stand out in a competitive higher education market.

Experience of using email marketing software and/or customer relationship management (CRM) systems would be an advantage.

This role is offered on a full-time, permanent basis with a hybrid work pattern. The preference to fully work on campus can be accommodated if desired.
