            <p id="isPasted">Lancaster University is seeking to appoint a Research Associate/Senior Research Associate for the <strong>Downscaling and Integration of Coarse Open Data for Enhanced Rapid Analytics</strong> EPSRC Impact Acceleration Account (IAA) project. This will be offered at grade 6 or grade 7.&nbsp;</p><p>This is a collaborative project between Lancaster University and JBA Consulting focused on water resource protection (use cases related to monitoring of Source Protection Zones, SPZs). You will work at the interface of academic research and applied innovation, helping translate research into evidence suitable for commercial and regulatory deployment.</p><p><u>Role responsibilities</u></p><p>As part of a friendly, multidisciplinary team, you will be responsible for:</p><ul><li>collating and analysing EO data</li><li>assessing, designing and implementing downscaling algorithms</li><li>scoping algorithm integration into analytical workflows</li><li>writing up findings for presentations and possible publication</li><li>disseminating findings to key stakeholders</li><li>maintaining information security, ethical and quality standards.</li></ul><p><u>About you</u></p><p>We are keen to hear from candidates who have:</p><ul><li>a PhD (completed or near completion) in statistics, applied mathematics, geospatial/ environmental data science or computer science.</li></ul><ul type="disc"><li>demonstrable programming skills (e.g., Python, R) and experience handling spatial datasets.</li></ul><ul><li>experience of probabilistic modelling, geostatistics, or machine learning.</li><li>ability to work independently while engaging effectively with academic and industry sectors.</li></ul><p><u>Why work with us?</u></p><p>This study is located within the JBA hub at Lancaster University, embedded within LEC, with occasional travel to JBA Group&rsquo;s Head Office in Skipton.</p><p>LEC is a world-leading interdisciplinary centre tackling global environmental challenges.             <p id="isPasted"><u>Job overview</u></p><p>Lancaster University is seeking an exceptional and motivated individual to join the Lancaster Environment Centre (LEC) as a <strong>Senior Departmental Technical Manager and Health &amp; Safety Officer</strong>.</p><p>This is a unique opportunity to lead the technical and safety strategy of a large, complex academic department. You will provide strategic leadership to LEC&rsquo;s technical team, ensuring the availability of high-quality technical expertise for world-class teaching and research.</p><p>Working closely with the LEC Director and senior colleagues, you will:</p><ul><li>Lead and manage technical staff, supporting development and performance&nbsp;</li><li>Oversee technical resources and facilities to meet teaching and research needs&nbsp;</li><li>Provide expert health and safety advice and promote a positive safety culture&nbsp;</li><li>Lead the development of robust safety systems, including emergency planning, audits, inspections, and incident investigation&nbsp;</li><li>Develop and monitor safe systems of work, including for off-site activities&nbsp;</li><li>Contribute to strategic planning as a member of the LEC Leadership Group</li></ul><p>&nbsp;You will play a central role in enabling cutting-edge teaching and research while embedding safety, wellbeing, and operational excellence across all activities.</p><p>This is a full-time, indefinite post, with an expectation of at least four days per week on campus.             <p id="isPasted">The Lancaster Environment Centre (LEC) is seeking to appoint a proactive, friendly Technician to support practical teaching. You will be part of a dedicated team ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our teaching laboratories. You will provide hands-on, technical assistance for LEC&rsquo;s teaching laboratories. There are two equivalent roles advertised.</p><p>The role is based in the teaching laboratories in LEC but may involve some fieldwork support.&nbsp;</p><p>You will:</p><ul><li>Check and prepare equipment, labware and chemical solutions required in practical sessions.</li><li>Lead by example through consistently adhering to excellent laboratory practices.</li><li>Work collegiately and proactively under instruction to facilitate the smooth running of the laboratories.&nbsp;</li><li>Assist with the preparation of field equipment and sample collection.</li><li>Contribute to other teaching, outreach and student recruitment activities.</li></ul><p><u>About you</u></p><p>To be a suitable candidate for this role you will have:&nbsp;</p><ul><li>Qualifications or experience equivalent to level 3 in a scientific discipline or practical experience in a science laboratory.</li><li>Experience of working successfully in a team to support others, coordinate effort and complete tasks effectively.&nbsp;</li><li>The ability to accurately follow written and verbal instructions.</li><li>The ability to prioritise and organise your work and resources to planned timescales.</li><li>A desire to work in an inclusive and diverse environment.</li></ul><p><u>Why work with us</u></p><p>LEC is the largest department in the University with an intake of over 220 first year undergraduate students on average.
