            <p id="isPasted"><br>  Lancaster University invites applications for a full-time, indefinite <strong>Assistant Professor (Lecturer) in Computer Science</strong> to join its ambitious and growing campus in Leipzig, Germany.</p><p>The successful candidate will ideally take up the appointment no later than January 2027<strong>.</strong></p><p>Located in one of Germany&#39;s most dynamic, liveable, and culturally vibrant cities, Lancaster University Leipzig delivers the same academic excellence and student experience as Lancaster University&#39;s UK campus. As part of a globally connected institution, the Leipzig campus combines the advantages of a close-knit academic community with access to an international network of scholars, researchers, and industry partners.</p><p>We are seeking an outstanding academic to strengthen the research profile of the School of Computing and Communications and contribute to the continued development of our undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in areas such as <strong>Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, and Cyber Security</strong>.</p><p>The successful candidate will contribute to the University&#39;s research, teaching, and engagement activities by:</p><ul type="disc"><li>Developing a high-quality, internationally recognised research programme in Computer Science;</li><li>Publishing research in leading journals and conferences;</li><li>Pursuing external research funding opportunities;</li><li>Delivering excellent teaching across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes;</li><li>Contributing to curriculum development through innovative, practice-oriented teaching approaches;</li><li>Supporting knowledge exchange, industry engagement, and public outreach activities;</li><li>Participating actively in the academic life of the department and wider University.</li></ul><p>Applicants must hold a PhD in Computer Science or a closely related discipline and possess a strong foundation in core areas of the field.</p><p>The ideal candidate will demonstrate:</p><ul type="disc"><li>An emerging or established record of high-quality research;</li><li>Experience of effective university-level teaching;</li><li>A commitment to student engagement and academic citizenship;</li><li>Evidence of outreach, knowledge exchange, professional service, or wider community engagement.</li></ul><p>German language skills are not required for this position.             <p id="isPasted">Lancaster University is seeking to appoint an Assistant Professor (Lecturer) in Media to be based at its Leipzig campus in Germany. Situated in one of Germany&rsquo;s most vibrant and liveable cities, the Leipzig campus offers the same high-quality academic standards and student experience as Lancaster University in the UK, within a strongly international and interdisciplinary teaching and research environment.</p><p>&nbsp;This role will play a strategic part in the development of the Media and Communication Studies provision at Lancaster University Leipzig, including active collaboration with the Leipzig-based Media research group and close partnership with Programme Leadership during the ongoing Curriculum Transformation Process. The post-holder is expected to demonstrate flexibility in teaching across an evolving portfolio of undergraduate and postgraduate modules and a strong commitment to the long-term academic and institutional development of the Leipzig campus.</p><p>&nbsp;The University will undertake a formal Curriculum Transformation Process at the beginning of the 2026/27 academic year. This process will review the current programme portfolio and may result in modules being retained, revised, or replaced. You are therefore expected to demonstrate adaptability and a willingness to contribute to the design and delivery of new or reconfigured modules in line with strategic and academic priorities. You are also invited to actively participate in the transformation of the programme portfolio.</p><p>&nbsp;The position foremost supports the undergraduate programme in Business Management and Media and complements the department&rsquo;s existing strengths in research and teaching. You will be expected to contribute to high-quality research outputs, innovative and practice-focused teaching, and engagement activities that strengthen the interface between media, management, and business education.</p><p><strong>Research Profile</strong></p><p>Candidates should have a strong foundation in research within Media and Communication Studies, with a primary focus on areas such as Corporate Communication, Public Relations, and Strategic Communication. Complementary or secondary research interests in related fields &mdash; such as Popular Media and Culture, Games and Play, Journalism and Visual Communication, Computational Communication, Social Media, Big Data, or Artificial Intelligence in communication &mdash; are also welcomed where they support interdisciplinary collaboration, programme development, and the strategic research priorities of Lancaster University Leipzig and the wider Management School.</p><p><strong>Teaching Scope</strong></p><p>All candidates are expected to contribute to teaching across the Media&nbsp;curriculum, which may include&nbsp;modules such as Social Media and Activism, Games, Play and Media, Journalism and Multimedia Production, Social Media Marketing, and the Independent Dissertation Project, as well as the development of new modules aligned with corporate communication, public relations, and strategic communication. In particular, the post-holder will be expected to design, develop, and deliver the BSc-level module &ldquo;Viral Media&rdquo; as part of the undergraduate programme, and to contribute to the ongoing development of this and related modules in line with strategic curriculum priorities and the Curriculum Transformation Process.</p><p>&nbsp;German language skills are not a prerequisite for the role, though Lancaster University is seeking applicants with an interest in making a long-term commitment to its campus in Leipzig. Candidates from underrepresented groups are particularly encouraged to apply.</p><p>&nbsp;Please note this role is a full time, indefinite-duration appointment based in Leipzig, Germany. The contract is with Lancaster University Leipzig under German law.</p><p>&nbsp;Ideally, we would like the appointed candidate to start at latest on 1st September 2026. The opportunity is unique as the role is permanent after a 6-months probationary period, and offers the opportunity of being promoted to Associate Professor and Professor in Line with performance.
